Livingston Loves Trees

Benefiting Park County Environmental Council

Fundraiser Story

Without a doubt, Livingston’s tree-lined streets are what make our town beautiful, but boulevard trees don’t happen naturally. Each tree is planted and cared for. In the early days there was an effort to plant trees, resulting in the 2,000 ash trees. Since then, people added a mix of trees, disease devastated some, and other areas missed out on this effort altogether. Now, an insect infestation threatens all of our ash trees. Realizing this, in 2021, a small group of citizens teamed up with PCEC to form Livingston Loves Trees – a volunteer initiative aimed at planting 1,000 trees in our community. To do this, we need your help. We purchase our diverse stock of trees — maples, lindens, oaks, among others — from local nurseries and pay for heavy equipment. Otherwise, all of our labor is volunteer. At this point, we are funded by private donations and some government funding– now being cut. To ensure success, we are asking the community to help going forward to reforest our community.
