Fundraiser Story
Livingston’s tree-lined streets are what make the town beautiful. But boulevard trees don’t happen naturally. Livingston is lucky. In its early days there was a major effort to plant trees, resulting in the nearly 2,000 ash trees that make up the majority of our urban forest.
As the town grew new areas missed out on that concentrated effort to plant trees. Disease has taken out some species, and now a new insect infestation threatens all of our ash trees.
Realizing this, in 2021, a small group joined together and formed Livingston Loves Trees, a volunteer project with one goal — to plant 1,000 trees all over the new areas of town and in the hundreds of spots along the boulevards in the old part of town that do not have trees.
To do that we need your help. We have been funded by private donations and some government funding, which is being cut. To ensure our continued success, we are reaching out to the community for help going forward to keep our urban forest thriving.
