In the heart of Gardiner, the dream of affordable housing for our hardworking school staff is becoming a reality! Sadly, the current market conditions make it challenging for educators to find suitable living arrangements. With typical rents exceeding 30% of their income and home prices soaring over $550,000, many dedicated teachers are feeling the strain.
That's where NYEF steps in! Since our inception, we've been on a mission to create affordable housing solutions for the heroes of our community—our school staff. We’re thrilled to share that we now have eight housing units ready to serve these incredible individuals!
Here's what we offer:
Three cozy "tiny" homes with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a loft for extra space.
One spacious unit featuring two bedrooms and one bathroom, alongside two charming one-bedroom units.
A third unit that combines a two-bedroom, one-bathroom setup with a one-bedroom, one-bathroom space—perfect for those who need a little flexibility.
The best part? The rental costs are tailored to our residents' incomes, ensuring affordability. NYEF also covers water and propane to alleviate some of the financial burdens.
However, with multiple units, maintenance is necessary. Just last year, we replaced a roof and a boiler, ensuring our homes remain safe and comfortable. This summer, we’ll tackle some necessary repairs, including relocating a propane tank and stabilizing a walkway to keep our community safe and welcoming.
