At 2:55 PM, the school bell rings across Livingston.
Backpacks zip. Kids pour out of classrooms. And for many families, that’s when the real challenge begins.
Because while school ends before 3:00 PM… the workday doesn’t.
For the families we serve at Einstein’s Learning Center, those hours between school dismissal and the end of a parent’s shift can make or break their ability to stay employed. Without reliable transportation, many children simply have no way to get from school to safe, structured after-school care.
We see it every day.
A mom cuts her shift short—again—because she has to be at the school pickup line. A dad turns down extra hours because there’s no one to get his child where they need to go. Employers lose reliable staff. Families lose income. Stress builds. Opportunities shrink.
And sometimes, parents are forced to make an impossible choice:
Keep their job—or make sure their child is safe.
That’s where a van changes everything.
With a dedicated transportation van, we can pick children up directly from local schools and bring them safely to our after-school program. One vehicle means:
- Parents can work full shifts without interruption
- Employers retain dependable workers
- Children spend their afternoons in a safe, enriching environment instead of uncertain situations
It sounds simple—but the impact is profound.
When a community doesn’t have childcare solutions that extend beyond 3:00 PM, the entire workforce feels it. Businesses struggle to stay staffed. Parents—especially mothers—are pushed out of the workforce or forced into part-time hours. Economic growth slows, not because people don’t want to work, but because they physically can’t.
A van is not just transportation.
It’s stability for families.
It’s consistency for employers.
It’s opportunity for children.
It means a parent doesn’t have to choose between their paycheck and their child’s safety. It means a child has a place to go, people who care for them, and a space to continue learning and growing.
With your help, we can bridge that critical gap between school and work—and keep our community moving forward.
Help us put wheels on opportunity. Donate today and be part of the solution.
