About Rural Resilience

Rural Resilience connects rural students, families, and community members to behavioral and mental health support—helping individuals build resilience, strengthen social well-being, and thrive.

What We Do

Rural Resilience provides mental and behavioral health services and supports to youth and families across five rural communities in Park County, Montana. Including: Gardiner Public School, Shields Valley Elementary & High School, Arrowhead School, and Cooke City.

Our work focuses on:

  • School-based and community-based mental health support
  • Early intervention and prevention services
  • Family and caregiver connection to resources
  • Reducing stigma around mental health in rural communities

Why It Matters

In rural communities, access to care is often limited by:

  • Geographic isolation
  • Socioeconomic barriers
  • Long-standing gaps in available services

Rural Resilience bridges these gaps through a collaborative, community-based approach built over the past six years through strong local relationships and trust.

Our Impact

Over time, Rural Resilience has:

  • Expanded services across five unique rural communities
  • Helped students and families access support they previously could not reach
  • Reduced stigma around mental health in rural areas
  • Encouraged more individuals to seek and accept help
  • Strengthened connections between schools, families, and community resources

Our work continues to grow as additional rural communities express interest in bringing our programs to their areas.

Our Approach

We lead with a boots-on-the-ground philosophy, meeting people where they are and building support systems rooted in trust, relationships, and consistency.

Rural Resilience exists to ensure that support is never out of reach.
