Livingston Meals on Wheels

Our mission is to provide nutritious meals to persons 60 years of age and older, regardless of background or ability to pay. Many seniors are unable to contribute financially toward their meals, yet we remain committed to ensuring that no senior goes hungry. Because of this, we rely heavily on the generosity of community donations and volunteers to continue our services and help seniors maintain their independence.

Each year, we serve more than 12,250 meals to seniors in our community. In addition to daily meals, we provide freezer meals for weekends, holidays, training days, and other closures to ensure there are never gaps in meal access. Currently, more than 15 clients receive these supplemental freezer meals through both home-delivered and congregate meal programs.

Last fiscal year, we served more than 9,040 home-delivered meals to seniors who are medically homebound or otherwise unable to leave their homes. Beyond nutrition, these deliveries provide vital social interaction, wellness checks, and regular contact that help seniors remain safely independent in their own homes. Most of our home-delivered clients cannot afford to pay for their meals, making community donations and volunteer support essential to sustaining this program.

We also served more than 3,230 congregate meals at the senior center. Since moving into our new location at 817 W. Park St., we have expanded opportunities for seniors to gather and socialize while receiving nutritious meals. One especially valued addition is our Thursday soup and salad bar. Many congregate clients have shared that without this program, they would not be able to afford fresh salad ingredients due to limited incomes and concerns about food waste.

We request only a suggested donation of $6 per meal from seniors over the age of 60. We never turn away a hungry senior because of inability to pay. Community support allows us to continue providing nutritious meals, companionship, and independence to the seniors who depend on us every day.
