United In Light, Inc.
About this Organization
United In Light, Inc.("UIL") is home to one of the Nation's 501c3 Nonprofit Charity whose sole
mission is to rescue and retire the elder, abused, neglected draft horse breeds from an untimely death of slaughter. We have been serving the community and draft horses since 2003. This year we are celebrating 21 years of service, thanks to all of our supporters!
The horses rescued at UIL, have had very hard lives, pulling, driving or resulting from the Premarin industry (Pregnant Mare Urine. This industry utilizes thousands of draft horse mares to produce a female hormone replacement therapy where the end result for the foals are slaughter bound in Canada). Typically, the draft horse breeds have been worked so hard that by the time they are found on the feed lots they are scarred, traumatized, distrustful with permanent injuries and broken spirits. Draft horse breeds tend to be viewed more as livestock or equipment. Due to their size they often get worked very hard then they are dropped at auction in their teens or if not able to work, they are sent straight to slaughter.
We rehabilitate them and allow them to be surrounded by love, healing hands and hearts, educating humans.
