NeighborWorks Montana (NWMT) is raising $5,000 for landscaping rehabilitation after a major water and sewer infrastructure project happening soon.
This summer, 83 households in the View Vista Community and View Vista Apartments will receive brand-new water and sewer lines throughout the neighborhood. After years of underground water leaks and failing septic infrastructure, these long-needed upgrades will bring safer, more reliable utilities and improve daily life for the residents who call View Vista home. They have been resident owned since January 2020 and have 50 manufactured home sites and 33 apartments. As a resident owned housing cooperative, they own and operate their democratically-managed community.
In partnership with the City of Livingston, construction crews will be replacing aging infrastructure by excavating streets and yards to install new piping. While these improvements are essential, the construction process will unfortunately result in the loss of many mature trees and landscaping features that have long contributed to the beauty and character of the community.
Funds raised through Give A Hoot this year will help restore and re-beautify the neighborhood by providing new trees, shrubs, and landscaping improvements for residents and homeowners. Together, we can help ensure that View Vista not only has safe and reliable infrastructure but also remains a welcoming and vibrant place to live for years to come.

More about NeighborWorks Montana + Resident Owned Communities
NWMT has worked to become the gold standard in housing education and counseling, an innovator in single-family lending, a reliable source of gap financing for developers, and a beacon of independence for residents of manufactured home parks.
In 2008, NWMT became the first organization to partner with ROC USA, bringing their manufactured home park resident ownership model to Montana. Serving as Certified Technical Assistant Providers, we are able to help guide residents of manufactured home parks to become resident owned. Resident ownership provides residents with rent stability, control over maintenance and repairs, and permanently affordable housing. There are currently 22 resident owned cooperatives in Montana, representing 852 homes that have been preserved. In Park County, we serve three ROCs-Sleeping Giant Community, View Vista, and Golden Age Village.
Hear From Residents
"Beyond the financial benefits, ROC homeownership has created a true sense of belonging. People come together in times of crisis and tragedy, and it is truly a community. " - Cindy Moree, homeowner
"I think when I look back at what it took to get here, a huge sense of joy fills my heart. It was a long train ride and sometimes the track got wobbly, but despite the differences, we pulled together and got the job done." -Barbara Kasauskas, homeowner
"It just makes you happy to be able to do this, not only for our family, but our little community and their families and stuff… [This is] a place that they know that it's not going to be swept underneath of them or taken." Thomas, homeowner
