100,000 Acres Across Park County Protected Forever

The Montana Land Reliance partners with private landowners to permanently protect Montana agricultural lands, fish and wildlife habitat, and open space.  In Park County, MLR has helped 100 families protect 100,000 acres of open space from development forever. This includes conserving 149 miles of river and stream front and over 62,000 acres of elk habitat. The protected acreage not only keeps agricultural lands in family hands, but also provides clean air, water, and wildlife habitat.

As Montana's population grows rapidly and development pressure increases, your support helps MLR Keep it Montana by expanding outreach to landowners and delivering meaningful conservation in the Paradise and Shields Valleys.

With your help, we can protect the Montana way of life for generations to come.

Keep It Working

The Montana Land Reliance helps ranchers and farmers keep their lands working for them, their families, and their communities. Working lands are the heart of Montanans’ deep connection to this land.

Keep It Montana by keeping the land working.

Keep It Open

The Montana Land Reliance ensures that the big open views in Montana stay that way. We have protected nearly 1.5 million acres of land so that remains available for ranching, farming, and wildlife, instead of development.

Keep It Montana by keeping our views vast and open.

Keep It Wild

The Montana Land Reliance partners with landowners who want to make sure that iconic Montana species, from bears and elk to birds and butterflies, have the space they need to thrive.

Whether you are a hunter or a birdwatcher, we Keep It Montana for you.

Keep It Healthy

The Montana Land Reliance knows how important water is for our state. The landowners we work with have protected over 2,000 miles of rivers and streams across Montana. These waters are important for fish, and the anglers who love them, and for families and communities.

Keep It Montana by keeping our waters clean and clear.

Keep It Friendly

The Montana Land Reliance is a great neighbor. We’ve helped over 1,000 Montana families across our state achieve their goals of protecting their land. Keeping Montana lands working helps to support an entire agricultural network that folks depend on for their livelihoods, families, and communities.

Keep It Montana by supporting your neighbors.

Testimonials

"It all started when I bought the place (The Hammer Ranch) and started to look at improving the streams and thinking about how they could not only be restored but also how agriculture could coexist successfully side-by-side with wildlife and conservation. After we'd done some restoration work on the ranch, we started to look for the ideal partner for a conservation easement to keep the land as it is and a working farm. The Montana Land Reliance was that partner."

--Bob Emery, a local landowner who partnered with MLR to protect his property from development.
